Dexter Morgan is ready to return to the small screen on Showtime again, but this time through a prequel series entitled Dexter: Original Sin. Initially simply titled Dexter: Origins, the new series (in Italy it will arrive on Paramount +) brings the origins of the myth to the center of attention, starting from the studio years and ending with his transformation as a serial killer. The leading role was entrusted to Patrick Gibson (Shadow and Bone), the young actor takes up the reins of the iconic role left by Michael C. Hall, protagonist of the original series, but also of the sequel Dexter: New Blood.
Along with Gibson, the cast also stars Golden Globe winner Christian Slater (Mr. Robot), who will play his father Harry Morgan, and Molly Brown (Senior Year) who plays Dexter's younger sister, Debra Morgan. Clyde Phillips returns as showrunner and executive producer of the 10-episode prequel series, set 15 years before the events of Dexter. Below is the official synopsis: Dexter: Original Sin follows Dexter (Gibson) in 1991 Miami as a student turns serial killer. When his bloodthirsty urges can no longer be ignored, Dexter finds comfort and understanding in Harry.
As his only confidant, he teaches Dexter a code designed to help him find and kill people who deserve to die, all while avoiding detection by law enforcement. This is a particular challenge for young Dexter as he begins a forensic internship at the Miami Metro Police Department. The prequel series is produced by Clyde Phillips and produced by Showtime Studios and Counterpart Studios. Scott Reynolds has also produced EPs alongside Michael C. Hall, Mary Leah Sutton, Tony Hernandez, and Lilly Burns, with Robert Lloyd Lewis producing. Michael Lehmann serves as executive producer and director.
