It has been revealed that Disney and Pixar's latest film Inside Out 2 has recorded the biggest opening box office revenue of 2024. It has had a big hit start since the No. 1 movie of 2023, Barbie. According to Variety, Inside Out 2's US opening weekend box office revenue was $155 million. This is almost double the revenue of Dune: Part 2 ($82.5 million) and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire ($80 million), which are currently the No. 1 and No. 2 films released in 2024. The cumulative box office revenue worldwide has exceeded $295 million. It has been a hit in countries such as Mexico, South Korea, the UK, Germany, and the Philippines.

The film is also scheduled to be released in major markets such as Japan, France, Italy, Spain, and China, and the record is expected to continue to grow. Variety reports that it may exceed $1 billion. Speaking of Disney and Pixar, three films that were produced as theatrical releases, "Soul" (2020), "Luca" (2021), and "A Little Bit of a Panda" (2022), were streamed through Disney+ due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Although traditional theatrical releases were restored with the following "Buzz Lightyear" (2022), the film struggled at the box office until the most recent "My Elements".

"Inside Out 2" is likely to herald the return of Disney and Pixar. The film's initial performance in the United States surpassed blockbusters such as "Toy Story 4" (2019) and "Finding Dory" (2016) and is the second-highest in Pixar history after "Incredibles 2" (2018). We can also expect it to set a new record in global box office revenue. In "Inside Out 2," which will be released in Japan on Thursday, August 1st, the main character is Riley, a girl who has reached adolescence and is facing a major turning point in her life by entering high school.

One day, the "adult emotions" led by Shinpai appear in front of the emotions in her head, Joy and Sadness, who have been watching over Riley since she was a child, and a storm of emotions ensues... The screenplay is written by Meg LeFauve, who continues from the previous film. The director is Kelsey Mann, who has honed her skills as a story supervisor on "Monsters University" and other films. Disney and Pixar's latest film, "Inside Out 2," will be released on Thursday, August 1st.
